ADELAIDE Thunderbirds defender Kate Shimmin has had her career-best season recognised as the club champion.

Shimmin topped the vote count from coach Dan Ryan and assistant Jane Woodlands-Thompson after being a massive positive in the Thunderbirds’ nightmare season when they failed to win a game.

Returning to the Thunderbirds this season after a year with Queensland Firebirds, Shimmin dominated the awards night by claiming four of the five trophies.
